Much loved volunteer turns 100

Cyril, baker of flapjack and maker of coleslaw for many years at the Heritage Centre enjoyed special birthday celebrations with his family and the Lord Mayor!

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Bob Gettings MBE JP and his wife Is the Lady Mayoress of Leeds, Councillor Lesley Gettings visited Cyril and had this to say:

"I was delighted to visit Cyril Wilkinson of Otley at Ghyll Royd Care Home in Guiseley to help celebrate his 100th birthday. It is a remarkable achievement to reach such a great age and still have a zest for life.

I was equally pleased when Cyril presented me with some of his famous parkin made to his own recipe. It happens to be one of my favourites and my Mother made it every week when I was a boy’."
