‘A hidden gem’ run by volunteers to celebrate the heritage of the wonderful Washburn Valley. A stunning extension to Fewston Church, it’s free to come in!
The Centre features exhibitions about the heritage of the Valley, and we run an extensive programme of events including walks, workshops, talks and courses. At weekends there is a popular Tea Room featuring a wide selection of homemade cakes. The Centre is fully accessible and is available for hire.

Many authors have been inspired by the beauty and serenity of churchyards. Enjoy a morning walk examining the headstones in our beautiful churchyard or, if you would rather, peruse the transcripts of the inscriptions in the comfort of the Tea Room. We will share our thoughts and then fortified by drinks and savouries, will be suitably inspired to try our hand at creating a piece of writing based on one or more of the headstones. These can be shared or silently cherished. Cost £12 member, £15 non-member.

The Washburn Heritage Centre and Fewston Church are celebrating Heritage Open Days 2026. Take a free guided walk around Fewston Churchyard to view quirky headstones at 12noon for approx. an hour. Places are limited so booking is essential in the normal way.

Less than a mile from the A59, the Centre is next to Fewston Church with a small car park.
